We provide Behavioral Health, Substance Use and Supports Coordination services for members of our community of all ages.
WHY IT WORKS
Thousands of people in the Philadelphia region have been helped by our competent, compassionate, committed staff. Their lives were profoundly improved using a variety of supports and treatment options, including evidenced-based practices.
WHO WE ARE
The Consortium, Inc. is a recovery-oriented, nonprofit Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) established in 1967. We are one of Philadelphia’s twelve CMHCs.
The Consortium provides a wide range of counseling and behavioral health services by compassionate professionals who use evidence-based counseling methods to treat trauma.
Thousands of young people benefit from the Consortium’s cutting edge treatment for children. Our caring therapists are highly skilled in childhood trauma, family therapy and adult trauma.
The Consortium’s drug treatment programs are designed to help people regain their balance and reach their full potential. Our extensive, proven treatment services genuinely help and no one is ever turned away.

Integrated Care - Medical Services All Under One Umbrella
For the first time in a behavioral health setting, the Consortium has established a medical care component within its Adult Addictions Outpatient Clinic giving access to primary care, while providing behavioral health treatment at the same site. With this integrated service, individuals are able to address both their physical and behavioral health needs, with complete care, which promotes successful completion of treatment.
Using a healthcare screening tool, members are assessed for high risk illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, HIV and Hep C and are provided with health education and linkages to care including the establishment of a new patient/primary care provider (PCP) relationship or through collaboration with an existing PCP. Members are able to schedule appointments with Spectrum Health Systems and their Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner at any time throughout their treatment for physical exams, vaccinations, labs tests, short term medication refills and minor medical care and first aid.
The Consortium Computer Lab – Giving You Tools to Succeed FREE to Our Members
Located at 451 University Avenue, the Consortium Computer Lab is a comprehensive resource center offering members use of computers, printing and internet access and services in a ready-made office environment. These resources greatly help the road to recovery and include assistance and support with employment, housing, education, financial well-being and community integration.
Along with access to the client portal for treatment information and medical appointments, members can also participate in computer literacy courses, regularly offered by our knowledgeable staff. Individuals receiving addiction services can utilize one of the 10 state-of-the-art computers, Monday through Friday during regular program hours.

CARE - Community Advocates Response & Engagement Team
The Consortium’s Community Advocates Response and Engagement Team
(CARE Team) is a community resource mobil
crisis unit for emergency and crisis response and stabilization. The CARE Team helps ensure people with mental illness have access to onsite and community emergency services, to decrease inpatient hospitalization, curtailing the use of emergency rooms. This extension of our existing crisis intervention services is for adults, both in the community and hospital settings. We also work with police departments to reduce arrests.
Integrated within our Adult Mental Health Outpatient Clinic, located at 5501 Chestnut Street, CARE Team services are available Monday through Friday, 7 am-11 pm. Our dedicated staff is available to provide triage services, conduct 302 involuntary commitment assessments, educate consumers and families on the 302 process, and facilitate linkages to care and care coordination such as primary health care, housing and employment.
